If you remember your first surf lesson, the board you used must have been a Wavestorm. Costco Wavestorm foam surfboards are essential in the new surfer’s life because they provide everything a beginner needs to get comfortable with waves. Surf schools use Wavestorms because they’re light, easy to learn on, and safe to use in crowded areas.

Another benefit of learning on a Wavestorm is that it gets you acquainted with all the parts of a surfboard so you can be more aware of how to handle your board in and out of the water. You don’t want to be that guy who keeps banging his longboard while turning at corners. A Costco Wavestorm makes you familiar with the length of a surfboard so you can handle it better.

FAQ
What is the Costco Wavestorm return policy?
The best thing about the Costco Wavestorm board is that it comes with Costco’s excellent return policy. If you break your Wavestorm board, you can simply return it to any Costco to get a new one.
Is the Costco Wavestorm a good beginner surfboard?
Yes! In fact, it is probably one of the most highly recommended boards for beginners out there. There are many reasons that make it a great board. For starters, it is a soft-top, meaning it will be less dangerous on your number of unavoidable beginner wipeouts. Second, it is super lightweight, so even groms won’t have trouble hauling it down to the ocean. Third, it has a ton of surface area, which makes paddling and balancing on it much easier than a regular shortboard.
Can you surf big waves with the Wavestorm?
Even though it will always be labeled a “beginner board”, the Wavestorm is truly up for anything that you are. In fact, madman Jamie O’Brien fearlessly took his Wavestorm out to Pipeline in Oahu and caught some serious waves. So yea, the Wavestorm is by no means a weak board.
How well does the Wavestorm perform compared to regular boards?
Definitely not as well as shortboards or performance boards. Experienced surfers will most likely get tired of them after a while, as they are not as maneuverable. A lot of that has to do with the volume of foam and the HDPE material.
Can I use the Wavestorm as a SUP?
No. SUPs are much wider and thicker than regular surfboards, as you need added stability. Wavestorm does make a SUP though if you want to look into buying that as well.
Can you swap out fins for Wavestorm boards?
Unfortunately they are not as customizable as FCS fins, though a company called Perfect Fins has released a line of fins that they claim makes your board faster and more responsive. That could be cool as the Wavestorm fins are not the highest quality.
