Swimming pools are a must-have addition to any home. There’s nothing like your own pool, especially when a trip to the community pool or beach just doesn’t bring the same level of privacy.
Aside from being a feature that raises the value of your home, swimming pools offer families with different fitness levels a great way to get in shape. Even though swimming is a low-impact sport, it’s better than running at burning calories. Your own pool also offers you a venue to teach your children how to be safe in and around water, while ensuring their own safety.
However, excavating and constructing a deep enough hole in the backyard is just not an option for some people. In some cases, excavation is just not possible. However, above-ground or deck pools allow you to enjoy having your own pool without breaking the bank.

What pool should I choose?
You’ll generally need to consider the amount of space that you have, as well as your aesthetic tastes. Round and oval pools are more like in-ground pools, while rectangular pools may fit better with existing decks and porches. Round pools are also generally more sturdy than oval or rectangular pools.
Can I install these pools out of the box just anywhere?
Any above-ground pool needs to be installed on a level surface; you may need to spend a bit more to ensure leveled ground. You may also need additional sand and salt (to generate chlorine) to complete the installation, but these amounts of sand and salt should be available at your local hardware store.
What does chlorine do?
Chlorine sanitizes water, which means that it gets rid of bacteria, algae, and other things that you don’t want in your pool. Some cleaners also use salt chlorine generators that use the same salt in water conditioners to convert it into chlorine.
Am I limited to chlorine in sanitizing my pool?
No, you are not limited to chlorine for pool cleaning. People have used salt as a sanitizing agent. Salt water pools are not as harsh on the eyes and skin. Generally, salt water systems are safer to use than chlorine-based systems, as chlorine requires owners to handle unsafe chemicals. Maintenance costs are also lower because you don’t need to constantly “feed” the pool with chlorine.
If my pool is that clean, do I still need to buy a pool cleaner?
The maintenance kit included in the box is all you need to keep your pool clean. You will need to remove leaves and other large things that fall into the pool manually, as filters cannot remove those objects.
You don’t need to shell out a lot of cash for enjoying a summer swim. Literally, and within just a few minutes, you can have your own pool right in your own backyard.
Just make sure that you have all you need to keep your water clean – whether that is with sand, salt, or chlorine – and enjoy the water!
