Frequently Asked Questions

What are the advantages of the WaveStorm Paddle Board?

For starters, like most intermediate soft-top boards out there, the WaveStorm is made out of high-density EPS foam. This foam construction gives the board the utmost durability, leaving you free of the worry you might have with a fiberglass board that is easily damaged. WaveStorm boards aren’t so susceptible to damage from rocks, being dropped, or running into other boards.

Soft-top boards like the WaveStorm are also great because they are much safer. Not only will it feel a lot better on your knees, hands, and feet, but will also keep you from knocking out your front row of teeth when you inevitable bail.

Lastly, the WaveStorm is very lightweight. At only 25 pounds, anybody should be able to get this thing down to the water.

What are the disadvantages of the WaveStorm Paddle Board?

Because the board is made out of foam, you have a few disadvantages in comparison with a hard top board. Even with the added wood stringers, the WaveStorm still can’t seem to match up to Fiberglass SUPs in term of stiffness. This makes them a bit harder to paddle because they aren’t as rigid.

The foam also makes them less stable, especially if you’re a bigger guy or girl. Anyone over 250lbs will have a hard time staying balanced.

Where can I use my WaveStorm Paddle Board?

These boards work well in all kinds of conditions. Whether you want to cruise around on the flat water or catch a couple of small waves, the WaveStorm Paddle Board is actually pretty versatile. That being said, we would recommend against trying to take it out in larger or more violent conditions.

Should I purchase a higher-quality paddle than the one that is included?
The paddle that comes with the WaveStorm Paddle Board is certainly sufficient with its aluminum handle and plastic blade, the weight is a big reason to upgrade. Though aluminum is pretty lightweight, carbon is even a lighter. Carbon paddles surprisingly make a world of difference when you start extending your sessions, as your arms can get more tired from holding more weight for hours on end.

Is the WaveStorm Paddle Board a good board for beginners?

Totally! We couldn’t recommend a better beginner paddleboard. It is perfect for different conditions and works best for gliding around in flat water if you’re practicing. Because it is foam, you’ll have a much easier time balancing on it if you’re lighter.

How do I stand up on a paddleboard?

Before standing up, make sure that you are situated in a place where the water is calm and the current isn’t moving a lot. Yes, the waves might look like fun, but trying to stand for the first time with the water moving underneath you will only make it more difficult. Begin by feeling about your board to make sure you are centered. When you’re finally ready to stand, get up in a kneeling position with one foot. Slowly bring your other foot up and make sure that you are now standing with your feet shoulder-width apart. Your feet should be forward and parallel to the edges, unlike a surfboard stance. You should slightly bend your knees to get a bit more balance. That wasn’t so hard now was it?

How do I clean my WaveStorm Paddle Board?

Make sure to rinse your WaveStorm with fresh water after every SUP session to make sure it stays in the best condition. Grime and salt are the worst culprits of board deterioration and can stay latched on your board for days after you take it out of the water. Don’t forget to clean your paddle too! Take it apart and give it the same freshwater rinse as your board before letting them both air dry in a shady place.

Do I need to wax my WaveStorm?

Luckily, WaveStorm boards don’t require any wax, as the crosslink deck gives you all the grip you’ll need. If the deck is feeling a little slick, a bit of a sand rub will do just fine.
